City born and country raised Darlene Rene has become LA’s up and coming character actor! She started acting a long time ago on the set of “LIVING SINGLE.” But don’t type cast her she loves comedy and drama equally. Retired from being a preschool teacher and now focusing on her second career as an actor. She is trained in IMPROV though LA’s Master Classes, earned a Masters degree from “The School of Hard Knocks” and a holds a Phd. in “Motherhood.” Other joys include Producing and Developing Performances for theatre.
She was honored to be in Santa Monica Theatre’s debut of “ONE TOUCH” by playwright Steven Lancefield. This short play shines some insight on society and dealing with our most vulnerable, the mentally ill. Second time around is the charm…Pleasantly surprised to return to SMT so soon, Darlene Rene’s cameo in MAY CAUSE BLINDNESS by Stepy Kamei, is pure “icing on the cake!” A casual meeting in the parking lot can stir up a variety of emotions.
Since we mentioned cake…Darlene Rene will also be joining in the SMT ANNIVERSARY Celebration featuring our audience favorites from our first year May 26th &28!
You may see Darlene next at West Angeles Performing Arts Center’s “JOURNEY OF A LIFE SENTENCE” June 17, 2017. This one night only play is close to her heart, raising awareness and relief for families in crisis due to the cycle of abuse.
